“Better Management of depression for people with cancer.”

This is a Cancer Research UK Programme Support Grant. The programme includes two trials (SMaRT Oncology 2 and SMaRT Oncology 3) as well as a Symptom Monitoring Service (SMS).
Symptom Management Research Trials in Oncology 2- A 500 patient of the effectiveness and the cost effectiveness of a complex intervention called Depression Care for People with Cancer, jointly with the Beatson Cancer Centre Glasgow funded by Cancer Research UK.
This study will find out if a cancer nurse-delivered treatment is more cost effective than treatment as usual in relieving depression in cancer survivors
Symptom Management Research Trials in Oncology 3 - A 200 patient efficacy trial of depression care for people with cancer for patients with poorer prognosis cancer types , jointly with the Beatson Cancer Centre Glasgow, funded by Cancer Research UK.
This study will find out if a cancer nurse-delivered treatment is better than usual care in relieving depression in patients with severe cancer.
Symptom Monitoring Service - This is a clinical service to the NHS which also supports recruitment of patients to the above trials .
